AI UPSKILLING COHORT COMMUNITY SUPPORT COORDINATOR
VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Community Support Coordinators will serve as peer facilitators for the AI Upskilling Cohort. They help cultivate group culture, guide participants through a three-phase project cycle, and ensure that the group is well-positioned to complete the program, especially the capstone project and the related presentation at the program showcase on October 21, 2025. While active participation is expected from the whole group, Community Support Coordinators act as community anchors and bridge builders, helping to set the tone for the program.
This position will be based at MLK Library (hybrid), and will report to the Digital Inclusion Coordinator, DCPL (in partnership with Levy).

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years and older
- AI Upskilling Cohort participant
- Demonstrated interest in leadership, public service, or peer learning
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and guiding group process
- Experience with project-based or collaborative work environments is a plus
- Willing to complete a background check
Key Responsibilities:
A community support coordinator can select from two roles:
1. Pod Leader:
· Support a small cohort group (“pod”) of 5-7 members through a structured 8-week project journey
· Co-develop/act as steward for your pod’s charter after week 3
· Facilitate team meetings, ensure inclusive participation, and help maintain accountability
· Track progress toward the October 21 capstone showcase
· Coordinate communications with DCPL and Levy program staff
· Attend Community Support Coordinator onboarding meeting/training in Week 1
· Participate in periodic check-ins and peer support meetings
2. General Community Support Coordinator
· Support the larger AI Upskilling Cohort group with tasks such as:
o Extracurricular/social event coordination: suggesting, organizing, and/or inviting participants to relevant offsite events (ie: meetup groups, happy hours, etc.).
o Group Slack discussion stewardship: post discussion questions for the group, provide running lists of tools/ideas/resources mentioned, summarize previous sessions or discussions, post reminders, etc.
o Session convening: lead check in or icebreaker portions of sessions, help reserve additional meeting space as needed, help set up and check people in.
Time Commitment:
- 2-3 hours per week from August 5 – October 21
- Attend training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
Training and Orientation:
- All prospective volunteers must attend an onboarding meeting/training.
